If you're planning to troubleshoot your garage door, check out these FAQs to see if they can help!

Why won't my garage door opener close my garage door?

Your garage door will not close if the safety eyes are misaligned, there is debris blocking them, or they have been unplugged or damaged.

Why is my garage door suddenly noisy?

Your garage door may be noisy because it needs to be lubricated or it has worn or damaged parts, such as the pulleys or rollers. Read more about why your garage door is noisy here.

Why won't my garage door opener open my garage door?

There are several reasons why your garage door won’t open. They include a dead remote battery, frequency interference, power outage, a disengaged emergency release, motor circuit board issues, worn or broken garage door parts, a locked garage door, electrical issues with the wall control panel, or remote lock is engaged on the wall control panel.

What should I do if my garage door opener remote is lost or stolen?

You’ll want to erase it from the memory of your garage door opener. To do this, locate the Learn button on your garage door opener and press it until the LED light goes out, usually about 10-15 seconds. Those lost or stolen remotes will no longer work with your opener. You’ll need to purchase a new remote and reprogram it. Learn more about how to reprogram your remotes here.

What should I do if my motor is making noise but the door isn't moving?

There are many things that can cause your door not to open even if the motor is making noise and working. The trolley can be disengaged from the motor. Worn parts like the gear and sprocket or pulleys, as well as damaged cables or springs also can cause your motor to make noise without the door opening. The garage door can also be locked from the inside, which will cause it to stay closed even if the motor is running. If the remotes work but you can’t open it from the wall control panel, there may be an issue with your wall button. If any of these sound familiar, you should call a trained professional to come assess your door.
